Situations
1. A) You are really looking forward to seeing this movie. Suddenly, you want to go to the bathroom. When you come back, someone is sitting in your seat.
B) Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. On the way to the movie theater, you got a speeding ticket and then you got a flat tire. Once you enter the theater, you find that you have lost your ticket and you can’t remember the seat number. Then a miracle! There is an empty seat in a very good position. Now it’s time to enjoy the movie.
2. A) You arrive home early and hear your son’s voice. You go up to his room to talk to him. You walk into his bedroom and find him there with a girl you have never
seen before. They are smoking and there are lots of empty beer bottles on the floor.
B) You hardly ever have a chance to hang out with your girlfriend alone. But today, your mother/father told you that he/she wouldn’t be home until at least 9 PM. So you invited your girlfriend to come over to your house.
3. A) You are a senior at your university. To your surprise, the school library sends you a notice that says you can’t graduate unless you pay a $100 fine for books and equipment that you borrowed from the library as a freshman that you never returned. You don’t have enough money to pay the fine.
B) You are the head librarian at a university. Every year students seem to get away with stealing stuff from the library. You’ve had enough of this.
4. A) You have witnessed a crime, committed by a neighbour. His wife wants to buy your silence.
B) Your husband has just committed a serious crime. A neighbour of yours saw what happened. Offer the neighbour as much money as it takes to buy his/her silence. If that doesn’t work, try something else. You will do ANYTHING to prevent your husband going to prison.
5. A) Your girlfriend never pays for meals that you eat together. Last time you had a date, she promised to buy dinner the next time you met. You have just finished eating a great meal at an expensive restaurant.
B) You promised to buy your boyfriend dinner. As you reach for your bag, you realize that you accidentally left your purse at home.
6. A) Your basketball team is in the final of the national championships. Unfortunately, you haven’t been playing so well, so you have been on the bench for the last three games and didn’t get any playing time. You are desperate to play in this game.
B) You are the coach of a basketball team that is in the final of the national championships. For ten years, you have been trying to win a championship. This team might be your last chance. The day before the big game, the worst player on the team has asked to meet with you.
