Time Capsule
The city of Brisbane has decided to construct a new administration building.
A small park will be built next to the building. The main focal point of the park will be a statue that represents the intercultural nature of Brisbane and her citizens. A time capsule will be placed underneath the statue and will be opened 100 years from now so that the people in the future can see what is important to the people of today.
You have been asked by the Brisbane Historical Commission to represent your home countries in the selection of ten items to be put in the time capsule. You should choose a balanced list of items that fairly reflect Brisbane and the countries you represent. Brisbane City officials have made up a list of possibilities. You must choose at least 3 items from that list. You must give reasons for your decisions.
Brisbane City Officials’ list: a toy kangaroo, water from the Brisbane River, a Broncos jersey, a postcard of Southbank, a cricket bat signed by the Queensland cricket team, a Treasury Casino chip, a brochure about the Queen Street Mall, a boomerang, a CD of popular Brisbane singers, a bottle of XXXX.
