Curriculum Resources

One of the most important decisions an ELICOS school can make is to decide which courses to add to scope. ELICOS Consulting has a comprehensive array of courses available:

General English (6 levels)
IELTS (2 levels)
English for Academic Purposes (2 levels)
Pearson Test of English Academic
Cambridge FCE

Our courses are of the highest quality because they have been written using the most up-to-date textbooks and effective teaching methodologies. All of our curriculum documents have passed at multiple ASQA audits.

The two main courses are General English and IELTS

General English

The primary goal for the General English course is to prepare students to communicate successfully in English outside the classroom. General English classes are designed to develop autonomous learning through student-centred activities with a focus on task-based learning and communicative competence. They effectively integrates the four macro-skills, which optimises the possibility of a student reaching their learning potential. By the end of the course, students will be able to use their English more confidently and with greater fluency.

The General English course has six levels: Starter, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, and Advanced. When students first enter the school, they are placed in their appropriate level. They can progress to the next level if they receive a satisfactory passing grade.
IELTS

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. Students primarily take the test in order to qualify for permanent residency or to enter an Australian university. Language schools offer IELTS courses to prepare students to take this test. The test has reading, writing, listening and speaking sections and students taking the test will receive a band score of between 0 and 9. A band score of 6 is generally required for undergraduate university courses.

The IELTS Preparation course has two levels: Foundation and Advanced. The Foundation course has an entry level band score of 5.0 and an exit level of 6.0, while the Advanced course has an entry level band score of 6.0 and an exit level of 7.0. Both levels are intensive programs, including test taking strategies and tips, and mock tests.
